TO DEBUT IN SAN DIEGO FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9TH, 2012  AT THE LYCEUM THEATRE

JOHN DOE, THE ULTIMATE MIDLIFE CRISIS is a new musical comedy written by 15-time Emmy Award winning TV producer Robert Moutal; with 25 years of experience in Television and theatre, San Diego based Moutal also wrote the lyrics and music for JOHN DOE.

Everything began on June 7th, 2010 one day after Robert’s previous play, “The Show Across the Street” closed.

JOHN DOE, is the Ultimate Midlife Crisis. It’s a dark comedy about a middle-aged man found unconscious on a park bench; he is wheeled into a hospital in the middle of the night, unresponsive and with no ID, he’s labeled as “John Doe” and put on a ventilator.

ABBY, a young, beautiful nurse is put in charge of John Doe and immediately grows fond of him, even though he’s in an apparent coma.  Soon after we learn that John Doe is suffering from Locked-in Syndrome, a condition in which the person is completely aware of his surroundings but unable to move a single muscle, thus giving the appearance of being in a coma. He also has an acute case of Retrograde Amnesia which has caused John Doe to lose his memory entirely. He must wake up and discover his true identity before the hospital disconnects him.

Featuring18 songs/musical numbers and 11 characters. JOHN DOE, THE ULTIMATE MIDLIFE CRISIS is Directed by Michael Schwartz (“Rent” National Tours) with Associate Producer Andy Lowe (San Diego Asian American Repertory Theatre). The Musical Direction is by Andy Ingersoll (“Footloose”, “The Music Man”, “Titanic”, National Tours) and choreographed by Courtney Corey (“Wicked”/Los Angeles and Chicago Companies).

    Hi Suzette,

I’d love to go see “John Doe”…plan to take my mom and two others. I haven’t had the chance to go many places with my mom and I’m on leave from work November 15, 2012. This would be a wonderful outing. Please let me know! Plan to see RENT when it comes to the Lyceum too.

WOW!!!!! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS PLAY IS NOT PACKING IN THE HOUSE. If you think word of mouth is the way to go, here goes! For me, this play started with me smiling, then grinning. By the end of the first act, I was laughing. 2nd act—–I WAS INTO IT. Music, singing and acting in this cozy, small venue was in your face entertainment! You want word of mouth?……..GO SEE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
