Minions & Monsters Review | A Hilarious Family Adventure Filled with Laughs and Minionese

Minions and Monsters

Minions and Monsters

Minions & Monsters is a fun, energetic, and delightfully chaotic family film that delivers laughs for audiences of all ages. Kids will love watching the Minions’ nonstop antics, while adults may find themselves equally entertained trying to decipher their hilariously bizarre, but surprisingly understandable language, Minionese.

The movie offers something for everyone. There’s plenty of slapstick comedy, a few mildly spooky moments, and countless outrageous situations as the Minions stumble their way through an adventure filled with monsters. Their knack for turning every problem into an even bigger one is exactly what makes them so lovable.

Synopsis: Minions & Monsters is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.

One of the film’s biggest surprises is how entertaining Minionese becomes. There are no subtitles or translations, so you’re almost forced to pay close attention. As the story unfolds, you’ll start recognizing familiar words and phrases borrowed from Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, English, and other languages. Most sentences are complete nonsense, but just one or two recognizable words are often enough for you to understand exactly what’s happening—and that’s part of the fun.

Some of the movie’s laughs come from the wonderfully ridiculous “spell” dialogue. Without giving too much away, you’ll hear magical incantations that suddenly include phrases like “miso soup” or “caramel macchiato.” They’re completely unexpected, utterly random, and genuinely funny. These aren’t forced jokes, they’re earned laughs that fit perfectly with the Minions’ absurd world.

My favorite new character was Dork, the lovable space robot voiced by Jesse Eisenberg. He instantly became a standout for me. I also had a great time trying to match the voices to the human characters before the credits rolled. The all-star cast includes Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, Trey Parker, and, of course, Pierre Coffin, who once again voices the Minions. It was fun recognizing so many familiar voices throughout the film.

Minions Screening

Minions Screening

My son, Alex, and I had a fantastic time at the screening of Minions & Monsters. It’s fast-paced, funny, and packed with visual gags, clever language jokes, and enough heart to entertain both kids and adults from beginning to end. Speaking of the end, stay for the credits for some extra fun!

Our favorite little yellow troublemakers take us on a wild adventure through 1920s Hollywood, and it’s one the whole family is sure to enjoy.
