I’m Going to the Golden Globes Red Carpet with NBC 7 San Diego

How lucky can an entertainment blogger get than to be part of the spectacle and thrill of the Golden Globe Awards?

Our local NBC TV station, NBC7 in San Diego, invited me and a small group of bloggers and social media aficionados to take part in a special Red Carpet event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday. Our group will be driven up to Los Angeles by Uber SUVs.

Excited doesn’t begin to describe the emotions around here. My daughter Bianca, a Film and TV student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, will be my fellow reporter for this Red Carpet event, too. As you know, we’ve both been on red carpets and are no strangers to the celebrity world. But this is the big time of awards shows!

Looking back at our red carpet experiences, one year my dress went to the Oscars without me.

And I once walked the Red Carpet for the Pirates of the Caribbean premier at Disneyland, too.

But the movie industry’s premier awards shows hold a revered spot in my heart. So yes, I’m excited to finally go to a formal Red Carpet myself. Oh, so very excited! I mean, really excited!

However, before you start sending me gowns or putting a hair and make-up team together to glam me up for the big day, thank you but I won’t be needing them (but how I wish I did!). You see, I won’t be walking the red carpet. I’m going to be sitting with that select group of people you see hanging off the railings and stretching their necks out to get a good view and photo of Tom Hanks, or Bradley Cooper or Leonardo DiCaprio.

I’m going to be one of those ubiquitous pre-award-show Bleacher Creatures!

So instead of a sequined gown, I’ll be wearing stylish pants paired with sensible shoes for the long day that awaits me and my faithful Smartphone.  Of course, if you’d like to style me in say, J. Crew, or have me wear one of your hand-made jewelry creations, a hat, or other such item, I would be up for it!

Joking aside, I take my TV and movie-watching very seriously.  I am part of a group of eight that every Friday night selects a film to watch, and then we dine and discuss the movie together. It’s a considerable investment to do this — about an $85 outing for two. I’m happy to report that we’ve seen a good majority of the films and TV shows nominated for Golden Globe awards this year.

If you’re as eager as I am for awards season to kick off with the Golden Globe Awards, then please consider following me on all my social media networks so you don’t miss a thing as seen from the Red Carpet (and some snark will be involved, I assure you!).

I will be posting live updates on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook leading up to and including the day of the awards so you, my readers, can have a real fan’s behind-the-scenes look from the Red Carpet. (I’m also going to ask you to forgive any blurry shots and typos or misspellings when I post on that day since it will all be one big blur for me too, lol!)

Please join me for this exciting first for me, and follow along by using the hashtags #GoldenGlobes and #NBC7 and follow @MamarazziKnows and @NBCSanDiego on Twitter. And just for fun add #BleacherCreature to your hashtag list for some inside comments and photos from our group.

Starting with Best Film, 12 Years A Slave (which I saw at our own San Diego Film Festival), I am rooting for this film and the star, Chiwetel Ejiofor, FTW! I’m sure you have your favorites, too.  So tell me, which film or star do you hope wins big this year at the Golden Globe Awards? Click here for a complete list of nominees.

Who or what are you looking forward to seeing at the GG awards this Sunday? It would be a hoot to see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, too!

The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards will air this Sunday, January 12, live on NBC starting at 8 pm Et and 5 pm  PT.

Joann, I hope I’m not too obnoxious with all the snark I’m looking forward to tweeting from the Beverly Hilton. The fashion is the highlight of any awards show!
